1. Best thing about teaching?
Relationship you build with the students. Getting to know how they think, what they care about, and what makes them light up.
2. Best city you’ve ever visited?
Tough one. I’ve been to incredible cities, amazing countries, but right now I live in Barcelona and I absolutely love it. There’s an energy and rhythm here that just works perfectly for me.
3. A song you listen to when happy/sad?
Happy or sad, it always comes back to R&B. That genre grounds me. I’m also a sucker for hip-hop and actually listen to many forms of it, from the 1980s right up to today. R&B is my go-to, but I absolutely love hip-hop.
4. Biggest education inspiration
Socrates. Asking questions is still one of the most radical things we can do in education and in life.
5. TTR Shows in one sentence
Real talk on tech, AI and education, with guests who aren’t afraid to say the quiet parts out loud.
6. Favourite TTR guest
They’ve all been brilliant. I’m not picking sides.
7. Favourite TTR episode
My first one was on well-being and I believe that every conversation in education should start with safety and well-being, how we care for ourselves and each other. That sets the tone.
8. Teaching Philosophy
Easy. Lead with kindness, build trust and remember that relationships are the foundation of learning.
9. Best advice you ever got?
In 1992, a consultant told me to always read things I have no interest in. Not just what I like, but things that don’t naturally pull me in. If I have no interest in skateboarding, I should read about skateboarding. If I don’t care for combustible engines or baking, I should still learn about them. That advice has stayed with me and been a never-ending gift. It has made me a better person, parent, friend, and educator.
10. Dream guestDead: Socrates.
Living: Bill Gates. We’re both avid readers and I’d love to talk to him about what he reads, why he reads, and what he recommends.
